Poor in Spirit Own Heaven
In Matthew 5:3, “spiritually prosperous
are the poor in spirit. . .” [AMBT] does not mean we are to remain bankrupt in
self-worth or even self-image. It simply refers to a time of recognizing an
humbleness that realizes the spirit and soul of an individual needs something
extra, outside of itself to cling to.
The “poor in spirit” is close to the
condition of being a little child, one who accepts, one who knows no arrogance,
and one who is all teachable.
And the amazing truth unfolds “. . . and
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
The truth unfolds that heaven belongs to
us, as well as our belonging to it.
