“…Your kingdom come…” [Mt.6:10]
We do not like to think
about death. But there are many deaths before the final one.
There is the death of taxes,
of friendships, of marriages, of teen years disappearing, of churches losing
faith, of finances, of losing a job, or health.
After any death comes the
time of grief. We hurt down deep, and some persons show this, and others bury
their tenderness in silence. All grief remains the nature of being human, even
until the final physical death. Death is the mean intruder, the mystifying
attack, the final question mark of life.
But wait! “Your kingdom
come” offers something different, a new word beyond grief. The realm of the
Almighty still rules forever. God’s kingdom is not powered by our kind of
linear time. In Christ supports a newness, powered by submissive love that we
can faith and help heal any grief. Jesus has prayed the Kingdom down upon us.
